Thrifty

So I have a new-ish find. It seems like Pottery Barn has been around for forever. And I have to say that I avoid shopping there because I'd rather have something unique over what is mass produced. That said, they still have nice things of good quality that fit into so many homes.

My new-ish find, is PB Teen. Their prices are lower and their sales are even better. The two items above are only $14.99 each! I love the wire picture/card holder. Anything that helps me organize through my pack-rat "saver" tendencies in a stylish way is greatly appreciated.

The fish is just cute. I can imagine it on a shelf with some Jonathan Adler pottery all lined up.

Quick Inspiration Board

So this is my first attempt at an inspiration board. It's a little Madeline Weinrib-heavy, but who would complain about that? All I ask is that while at Red Dirt Design, you not be too critical of some of my technical skills. I just ordered a book about html, xhtml and css. I'm looking forward to learning some things on this unexpected "time off," as the store I was managing suddenly closed! I knew/hoped I wouldn't be there forever, but it still smarts because it wasn't on my terms.

More delicate and subtle beauty found in nature and given a closer look by a talented artist.

Nature Around the Neck

I LOVE these. Check out www.twigsandheather.com for delicate, nature inspired (and technically nature created since the artists use molds made from the actual object) jewelry. Love that something hard and heavy has been turned into something light and airy looking. When you were little did you throw the maple seeds in the air and watch them "helicopter" down to the ground?

I found both posts above from trunkt.com, a site for independent designers. A new favorite.

Eco-friendly note book

How cool is this? A journal/sketchbook made from alternative papers...meaning recycled stuff, paper made not from tree pulp, and vintage-coolness. I love the simple illustrations on the cover.

Lello

So I'm begining to feel like yellow has been thrust upon me by all those "in the know" about trends and such. Maybe I've just seen so much of it recently that it has worn me down to its cheeriness. It IS cheery. This bag is cheery. From anthropologie of course. May your wallet be stuffed enough to afford it.

Ceramic Stool/Table

I think I'd like to put a couple of these between my coffee table and my TV. I like the pink ones, but that's such a nice green color. The green wouldn't work in my room--but I could use a dash of brightness.

I'm finding myself oddly drawn to pink. I imagine my bedroom painted a shade of raspberry. Craziness! I've never been a girly-girl. Don't know that my boyfriend could handle pink walls...
